Sharing the Love

When we first learned about Ms. Edwards' coffee cart, our hearts swelled with a desire to share the love to both her and her students, who are an integral part of our community. Last week, part of our team delivered a heartfelt surprise for Ms. Edwards, presenting her with a brand-new, Cups of Kindness coffee cart, equipped with all the supplies she'll need for the upcoming years to ensure that the cart remains consistently stocked. There is no one more deserving than Ms. Edwards herself. Her unwavering dedication and commitment to providing her students with the best learning experiences are nothing short of inspirational. THANK YOU, Ms. Edwards, for your profound impact you make every day. Our community is beyond blessed to have you. "Kristin Edwards and her team of paraprofessionals have worked diligently over the past year and a half to develop their classroom business called "Cups of Kindness." "Cups of Kindness" is a coffee cart that offers fresh, hot coffee, teas, hot chocolate, and snacks to staff throughout the building. It is operated by the students in Ms. Edwards' Life Skills program. With the support of the staff, students stock the coffee cart each day and wheel it throughout the building, taking orders and filling coffee cups as they go. While learning job skills is a crucial part of their experience, the most valuable aspect of "Cups of Kindness" for both the students involved and the staff they serve is the relationships built through the daily cart visits. Students have the chance to meet staff from throughout the building, while staff have an opportunity to put faces to names and meet students outside of their own classroom walls.Ms. Edwards has been instrumental in making this cart a success. Not only has she invested a significant amount of her personal time, but she has also used her own money to keep the cart running and has never once asked for recognition. Ms. Edwards continues to operate with one goal in mind: to ensure that her students have the absolute best experience possible at PWMS, regardless of the personal sacrifices it takes from her." - Chelsea (Assistant Principle at Prairie Winds Elementary)
